Sicily - One month budget! Plus groceries and restaurants

One month January 15 to February 15 in Palermo, Italy cost $3,976.40. This doesn’t include our insurance costs - as that would be variable for everyone. This doesn’t include our flight from London to Palermo, but does include our train from Palermo to Naples - our next stop.

Our airbnb was very well set up - so we didn’t need to buy much to be comfortable living for a month. Even came with a fairly stocked kitchen, so we didn’t have to immediately buy oil, pepper, etc.

Our typical grocery list includes tomatoes, veggies of some sort, eggs, beans or other vegan protein, sparkling water, wine, bread, and some type of nut. In Sicily, you can get this all very cheaply, but the taxes do add up - that on top of the weak dollar means it is more expensive.

Here is our haul the last week we were in Sicily - we already had all the basics and, really, we haven’t had to buy much because our airbnb was really stocked. If you are traveling lite and want a very nice work set up (printer included) and very fast internet, I can really recommend this place. Germana is really as amazing as the reviews say! I have her contact info, let me know if you’d like it, as I think she’ll rent outside of airbnb platform also.

There are a few vegetarian/vegan restaurants - both I can highly recommend! Flower Burger and Ecologica bistrot.
