Brussels Belgium
We only had two nights in Brussels and, honestly, that was probably two too many. This could really be an afternoon stop and walk around the main square and then off. We had just spent an amazing week in Paris and were headed to Den Haag (which I also love), so would have rather spent the extra nights in both of those places.
Part of this was likely our lack of planning ahead, but after searching for things to do, we honestly couldn’t find much that really seemed unique to the area. It also happened to be a weekend and the city was just packed. I did pick up some very cute souvenirs for my sister at a little makers market in one of the squares…so not a total loss.
We used some travel credit with AMEX and stayed at the Hoxton - I wouldn’t stay there again and do not bother paying for the breakfast. It is very limited (and mostly cold, even the ‘hot menu’).
When booking to leave, we accidentally booked Brussels Centraal - I cannot express this enough…avoid this station. It is pretty gross and absolutely no where to sit. If you have mobility issues, I’m not sure there are even any elevators. Both the other two look more modern and fine. It also appears that any train that goes from Centraal will pass through the other two. It may take some finagling on your part, but do try and avoid.
